Dexter's Laboratory

Genndy Tartakovsky produced the American humorous science fiction animated children's television series Dexter's Laboratory for Cartoon Network. The series follows Dexter, a young genius with a secret laboratory full of his creations. He is frequently at odds with his sister Dee Dee, who always manages to get in despite his best efforts to keep her out, as well as his arch-rival and neighbor, Mandark. Dial M for Monkey, about Dexter's pet lab monkey-turned-superhero, and The Justice Friends, about a trio of superheroes who share an apartment, are both included in the first two seasons of the show. Tartakovsky first presented the series to Hanna-animated Barbera's shorts showcase World Premiere Toons, based on student films he produced while studying at the California Institute of the Arts. Four shorts were produced and broadcast on Cartoon Network in 1995 and 1996 before the network ordered a 13-episode first season, which began on April 28, 1996. Tartakovsky departed the series after 52 episodes and a television feature were completed in 1999 to work on his other projects, Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars. The series was renewed by the network in 2001 under a different production team at Cartoon Network Studios, and it ended on November 20, 2003, after 26 more episodes.
