I Hired a Contract Killer
After fifteen years' service, Henri Boulanger was created redundant. Shocked, he attempts suicide, but can't go through with this, so he hires a contract killer in a seedy pub to murder him some unspecified period in the future. But instantly he meets and falls deeply in love with Margaret, a flower-seller, which makes Henri realise that his own entire life has some meaning whatsoever. But if he moves back to the pub to cancel the arrangement, he sees it's been demolished - and there's no way he'll get in touch with the killer...
