Passion
Maja Borg, a film artist, recently freed herself from a toxic relationship and is now investigating two religions and their respective ritual practices: Christianity and BDSM. At first look, it may appear that there is a world of difference between the two, but perhaps there is a spiritual connection between religion and subculture in terms of their capacity to heal. Borg investigates the European LGBT scene as well as the Christian heritage of northern Europe in order to go back to the center of who she is. She does this in a manner that is both dark and dramatic. In the film 'Passion,' passion and suffering are two sides of the same complex case. The film's transcendental imagers allow literary and cinematic traditions to join together to form a ceremonial whole. However, the abstractions lend a sense of human depth to the film's meetings, which depict Borg being tested in both his physical and mental capacities. With it's possible that it is precisely this humanity that ends up being the thing that proves to be the thing that ties BDSM and theology on an emotional and potentially even a spiritual level.
