Brackenmore

Brackenmore, a little hamlet with a tight-knit feel, is hiding something. Kate (Sophie Hopkins) is compelled to return to her family home in Ireland after the tragic death of an uncle she never knew she had. The setting is a small rural community in the south of the country. Early on in her journey, she meets Tom (D.J. McGrath), an enigmatic young local who assists her in rediscovering her long-forgotten roots and forgetting about the stresses of her life in London, and they become fast friends. With each passing day that Kate spends at Brackenmore, she comes to learn that the oddities of the estate's self-protective people may be more ominous than she had previously realized, and that the sequestered family estate is hiding a terrible and ancient secret. Starting from the opening sequences of a tragic vehicle accident and concluding with a surprising twist, Brackenmore weaves its way under your skin, alternating between conventional horror and occult riddles to get under your skin. In order to portray the silent anxiety that begins to rise when Hopkins uncovers the dark horror that exists within Brackenmore, cinematographer Justin McCarthy maintains a steady hand.
