Beyond what has been recorded, history undoubtedly occurred. Those who live in Mobile, Alabama's Africatown have passed down family histories and traditions for many years. Their town was started by slaves who were brought over in 1860 on the final known and illegal slave ship, the Clotilda. The ship was destroyed on purpose upon arrival, yet its legacy and remembrance live on.
