It All Starts Today
The narrative focuses on one man's efforts to revitalize his once affluent community and the people who live there while taking place in a desolate mining town close to Valencienne in the northern region of France. Daniel, the head teacher of a nursery school in a community devastated by unemployment, is portrayed by Philippe Torreton, who won a Cesar for Best Actor with his main role in Capitaine Conan. Torreton's performance earned him the Cesar. Daniel is resolute in his pursuit, despite the overwhelming obstacles against him, to bring life to the community. Daniel makes the decision to take the law into his own hands when a mother who had come to the school to pick up her children passed out at the scene due to the effects of alcohol consumption, and the social services department ignored all of the cries for assistance that were made. In spite of the fact that the citizens of the town resisted his efforts, in the end they were not in vain.
