Jacob

As told in the book of Genesis, young shepherd Jacob (Matthew Modine) falls in love with and wishes to marry Rachel (Lara Flynn Boyle), who is his Uncle Laban's niece and the daughter of Jacob's father (Giancarlo Giannini). Jacob, who lacks a dowry, toils as an indentured servant for his uncle for seven years in order to gain Rachel's hand in marriage. However, the cunning Laban connives with him and trick him into another seven years of hard labor. Jacob's mother, Irene Papas, is portrayed by Irene Papas as a strong woman.
