Merry-Go-Round

A young farmer named Mari Pataki lives in a rural area that is going through hard changes. Her father forbids her to see the man she loves. The father is mostly worried about work in the fields and making money, so he decides to give his daughter in marriage to an old, rich man with whom he does business. Land loves land, he says. This seems to be the unbending rule of the Hungarian peasantry. But the young lover is ready to take on any challenge to keep Maris's love.
