Moffie

Moffie (a disparaging Afrikaans name for a gay man) tells the narrative of Nicholas van der Swart, a young man who has known since he was a child that he is different. No matter how hard he tries, he will never be able to live up to the macho image his family and his heritage have of him. A system close to its downfall and yet in full force offends his every sensibility when he gets recruited at the age of 19 into the South African army. Long overdue is a story of the emotional and physical anguish faced by many young men during the border war against communism in South Africa in the early 1980s.
