My Uncle Benjamin

Benjamin is in love with Manette, the innkeeper's beautiful daughter, but she has no intention of giving in to the young doctor until she sees the marriage contract, and marriage does not fit with Benjamin's independent spirit. For the same reason, he rejects his sister Bettine's efforts to marry him off to Arabelle, the daughter of old Dr. Minxit. Benjamin agrees to accompany the girl to her meeting. That evening, however, his sister discovers him at the inn, along with Manette, who has been arrested by her father. As a result, she makes the decision to accompany Benjamin herself. However, an incident involving the fat Marquis ends the expedition. The Marquis performs a humiliating practical joke on Benjamin. Benjamin is hell-bent on avenging himself.
