The Devil's Trap

A priest comes to a small town one day because he has a secret job to do there. He is a member of the Inquisition who has been sent to look into what a local miller is doing. The miller and his son are from an old family whose home burned down a hundred years ago and had to be rebuilt from scratch. A lot of what the miller knew about the land, the water, and how stable a building was came from generations of family experience. The Inquisition heard about him because people said he could find water and tell when a building would fall down. They thought he must be working with the Devil.
