The Girl with No Number

This story is about a Vietnamese woman named Phuong Ly that is poor and beautiful. She falls in love with an attractive, kind, and wealthy man who is willing to marry her. Her life looks like it's going well until her boyfriend's mother deliberately sabotages their relationship. Phuong Ly goes to Ho Chi Minh City to work as a cleaner at a marriage agency. She is heartbroken and fragile. One of the men who want an arranged marriage is Mitch. She meets him there. When he starts to like her, she agrees to marry him with the promise that he will help her family in Vietnam and that she will have a better life. It turns out, however, that Phuong Ly is a slave when she gets to the United States. She is raped and violated, and there is no way she can get away from it. The only thing that gives her a little hope is the friendship she forms with the American's young, autistic niece. Both of them are in prison and need to get out.
