The Wives He Forgot

A handsome stranger wanders into the little law offices of unlucky-in-love Charlotte St. John, beaten and battered and suffering from amnesia. She is the good Samaritan; she looks after him, nurses him back to health... and falls head over heels in love with this mystery angel. He reciprocates — and Charlotte finally discovers true love. But not for long, as their brief love affair comes to an abrupt halt when his true identity is revealed. They discover together, to their sad dismay, that he is previously married... twice. That is correct; he is an amnesiac who has forgotten that he was a bigamist. Though Charlotte is first disappointed that her ideal hero is just another ideal schmuck, she quickly decides to defend him against the bigamy allegations, saying that his injury has rendered his prior characteristics obsolete. While preparing her defense, she digs into his background... and uncovers that his spiteful wife may have discovered his nasty bigamist secret months earlier — and covertly arranged his horrific demise!
