In 16th century Japan, Tobei and peasants Genjuro sell their earthenware pots into a group of soldiers at a nearby village, in defiance of a blossom's warning against seeking to profit from war. Genjuro's search for the mystical Lady Wakasa and the riches, as well as the desire to become samurai of Tobei, run the potential of destroying both themselves and their wives, Ohama and Miyagi.
