Zander the Great

Mamie, an orphan girl, is taken in by Mrs. Caldwell, a nice woman who has a little son named Alexander. Mamie was abused in the orphanage before Mrs. Caldwell took her in. Mamie has instant chemistry with the young man, and she quickly starts calling him "Zander." After Mrs. Caldwell passes away, the authorities decide that the boy must be placed in the same orphanage where Mamie was mistreated. They make this decision despite the orphanage's poor treatment of Mamie. Mamie, who is now terrified, has made up her mind to take measures to ensure that the boy would not have to go through the same ordeal as she had.
