In Cold Blood

At a more innocent America, at the end of the 1950s, the state was horrified by the barbarous slaying of a family. This picture is based on Truman Capote emotionally penetrating nonfiction novel. In prison, Dick Hickock, 20, hears a cellmate's story about $10,000 in cash maintained at a property safe. Ex-con Perry Smith to join him going after the stash is persuaded by Dick when he's paroled. On a November night in 1959, Perry and Dick break into the Holcomb, Kansas, house of Herb Clutter. At finding no safe enraged, they wake up the sleeping family and savagely kill them all. The bodies are located by two friends that come before Sunday church. The murders jolt the Great Plains town, where doors are left unlocked. Detective Alvin Dewey of this Kansas Bureau of Investigation heads the scenario, but there are no indications, no apparent reason and no suspects...
