Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares
The television program Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares features the British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. 2004 marked the launch of the BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning program on Channel 4. In each episode, Ramsay visits a struggling restaurant and uses his problem-solving skills to help the institution recover within a week. A few months later, Ramsay returns to the restaurant to observe how business has fared in his absence. As Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares Revisited, episodes from series one and two have been reedited with extra new material; they feature Ramsay revisiting restaurants a year or more after he visited them. After his four-year contract with Kitchen Nightmares expired in 2011, Ramsay declared in October 2009 that he would instead focus on his other projects. On January 30, 2009, Channel 4 aired Ramsay's Great British Nightmare as part of 'The Great British Food Fight,' a two-week series of food-related programming. In the broadcast, Ramsay urged viewers to begin patronizing local restaurants, especially during a recession. This show's American remake, named Kitchen Nightmares, premiered on September 19, 2007, on Fox. It is televised as Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom.
