The Mysterious Play
Miaka is in junior high school in Tokyo. She has normal problems like fights with her mom, entrance exams, and figuring out where she and her friends are going to eat. Then she finds a mysterious book in the library called "The Universe of the Four Gods." She and her friend Yui are taken into the book, and their lives are changed forever. As soon as the girls get to this new universe, they are attacked by people who want to take them as slaves. Lucky for them, there's a handsome young man around. Both girls are in love with him because he saved them from their would-be slavers, but all he really wants is money. When Miaka is not looking, both Yui and Tamahome disappear. He might have taken her away so he could sell her for money. Miaka doesn't know that Yui has come back to the real world. Back in the library, all she can do is keep reading as her childhood friend goes to the city to find the mysterious boy and save her. But what's waiting for Miaka isn't what either of the girls expects, and now Miaka's only way back to her world is to become the Priestess of Suzaku and save theirs.
